August 2012 Reading schedule

Posted on Wed, Aug 1, 2012

Please check info about schedule

This is our new reading schedule. I wanted to do something different to help us focus on what we are reading. So I am asking you as you read the NT look for the phrase in him for example

Ac 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

We are looking at places as it refers to Christ. Keep up with how many times you find this phrase and you can if you like post it on the forum that is connected to this post. Thanks for reading with us and have fun finding out what we have in him and who we are in him. Click on attachment on the right to view or print schedule.

Ps: please do not use the book in him for the answer

Although some of the "in him" verses are found in the book of Acts and the majority of them found in the Letters to the Churches, as I read through Mark and John during this Bible reading cycle, I discovered similar phrases such as "in my name", "trust in me", "abide in me and I in you" and "I in them and thou in me", spoken by Jesus himself teaching the disciples and through prayer. Not sure if these verses will be counted in this biblical exercise; but, they still encourage my spirit as to who I am in Christ Jesus. I believe Jesus spoke prophetically not only to his twelve but, also to those future disciples, like you and me, who were to hear the Gospel and come to know the Father by faith IN HIM. These are the verses I noticed so far: Mark 16:17; John 1:4, 6:56; 11:25-26; 14:1, 12-14; John 15:4-5, 7 and 16; 17:21 and 26. - Sis Colby Lynne

Thanks Colby for your post what I was trying to do with the assignment was to help us focus as we are reading and you are paying attention to those details.

Keep going and God will continue to reveal himself to you and encourage you as you read.

Yes, I agree. I will continue reading and, I know he will continue to reveal himself to me and encourage me too. Thanks, Pastor! :)
